Power geez free download for windows 8 64 bit - intelligible
I am an independent advisor, and I am trying to help other users in the community with my experience with Microsoft products.
Follow the following steps to add Amharic font on the Word.
Go to the Windows Control Panel and click on the Clock, Language, and Region link and then under Regional and Language, click no Change Keyboards or other input methods and on the Keyboards and Languages tab of the Region and Language dialog, click on Change keyboards and then on the General tab of the Text Services and Input Languages dialog, click on Add and then expand the Amhari (Ethiopia) item and expand the Keyboard group and check the Amharic Input Method (version 1.0)
The above steps are for Windows 7 and it's slightly different in Windows 10 (Less steps and a bit more automated as when the Amharic Language is added, the Input method: Amharic Input Method (version 1.0) appears automatically). Windows 8.1 might be similar to 10

It solved my problem of writing Amharic. No need of downloading a software. It is there already in settings of Win 10. I selected Amharic from the listed keyboards and it did everything automatically. I would also like to thank the experts of Microsoft who gave us ample choices of keyboards.

Mostly, Power geez 10 is not compatible with office 2016 and above. But there is another solution to write like power geez 10 keyboard style (Phonetic ፎ).
1. first install keyman desktop and launch it
2. from the quick launch, right-click on keyman and Click on the configuration button.
4. Click Install keyboard
5. Choose a language (Amharic)
6. from the list of Amharic keyboard, select/click on SIL Power-G Ethiopic and Install
7. finally you can change your keyboard to Amharic (ፎ) and write with any version of office, also can write on any browser and applications
